Extra Efficiency model GSSD Ground-Source Heat Pump
Back
to Ground Source Heat Pumps
For
every $1.00 spent on electricity, Trane geothermal units create
$3.00 worth of electrical heat output. This is done through
geothermal technology, powered by Trane's ground-source equipment.
Geothermal systems may be summed up in one phrase...the movement
of heat from one source to another for later use. It's a simple
concept. The system starts with an underground loop, providing
the ground-source heat pump the ability to either exchange
heat, by either drawing heat from the ground while in the
heating mode, or moving heat from a home into the ground while
in cooling mode. During the summer months, the ground-source
heat pump moves heat from the home into the ground for "heat
storage". In winter, this stored heat is used to warm
your home, making the system a valuable renewable source.
